Pike’s Peak gold rush
Colorado is well known for their gold rush in July 1858.
100,000 gold seekers were in one of the greatest gold rushes in American history.
The reason it’s called Pike’s Peak gold rush is because in 1806 the government hired Zebulon Pike to find the source of the Mississippi River, even though his recorded location for the Mississippi River was very inaccurate and got lost in his expedition, he did explore a lot of the American southwest. When he made it to the Colorado Springs, he named a mountain after himself. The rush set some camps around the area that later became cities such as Denver City and Boulder City.
